The Downtown Development Authority of Traverse City contracts with SEEDS to support the agricultural heritage of the region by managing the Sara Hardy Farmers Market. SEEDS takes this on as one of our Youth Conservation Corps projects and Corpsmembers serve as assistant managers learning a number of valuable skills including cash management, customer service, vendor relationships, and the local food scene in general.
The Sara Hardy Farmers Market is one of the top three largest markets in the state of Michigan, and the largest growers only market! The market has approximately 130 vendors and over 160,000 customers over the course of the six-month season.
The market season begins with the first Saturday in May and ends in October. The market takes place in parking lot “B” at the southwest corner of Cass and Grandview Parkway in downtown Traverse City. It is open every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and every Wednesday from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m. (Wednesday markets begin in June).
The Market accepts EBT/SNAP, Double Up Food Bucks, Senior Project Fresh, Project Fresh, and Hoophouses for Health. To learn more about the market and its vendors, visit the DDA's website. You can find SEEDS staff during market hours in the small building near the west market entrance. Come say hi when you shop!
Note: The farmers market will take place on the ground floor of the Old Town Parking Deck during the National Cherry Festival.
