Welcome to SEEDS of Adventure Summer Camp!

2013 Summer Camp Brochure

SEEDS Summer of Adventure Camp is for all Forest Area Middle School students who want to explore the natural world, while learning how to grow as caring, concerned, and compassionate people.

We will be exploring the diverse Northern Michigan landscape, from Sleeping Bear Dunes and Lake Michigan, to cherry orchards and nearby rivers. As you learn new skills, tube down the Manistee, visit farms and do so much more, you will be sowing your own SEEDS of adventure!

Students in the SEEDS of Adventure Summer Camp will still be learning, but it will look much different than the school day. Students will be exploring local areas during daily field trips, asking their own questions and searching for the answers. They will expand their knowledge of our local lands, people and animals in fun and adventurous ways.

Who: Open to all incoming 6 - 8th grade Forest Area students

What: Free Experiential day camp. Breakfast and lunch provided. Some planned activities include:

  • Four days in Traverse City creating music with professional musicians and other students. No experience necessary.
  • Exploring Hartwick Pines State Park
  • Tubing the Manistee River
  • A day hike at Sand Lakes Quiet Area
  • Picking fresh fruit at Rennie Orchard
  • Hiking and swimming at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
  • Exploring various art mediums with the experts from Blackbird Arts
  • Shooting the river slide on Elk River in Elk Rapids
  • And much, much more!

Where: Forest Area HS/MS

When: Monday-Thursday, June 24th - August 1st, 9 am-3 pm. Note: Camp the week of July 8-11 ends at 4 p.m.

What to bring:

  • Close-toed shoes, no flip-flops please!
  • Bathing suit and towel
  • Water bottle
  • Positive attitude

  • June 24-27: Bioneers Week
  • July 1-3: Explorers Week (no camp July 4th)
  • July 8-11: SEEDS School of Rock (camp ends @ 4 pm this week)
  • July 15-18: Pure Michigan!
  • July 22-25: Fresh Off the Farm
  • July 29-Aug 1: Art, Art, Art!

The SEEDS Adventure Summer Camp is an extension of SEEDS After School. We provide learning opportunities and access to healthy role models, mentors and community leaders. Programs are designed specifically to make learning hands-on and fun.
