Kalkaska Area High Schools

Welcome to KHS & Northside!

Kalkaska High School and Northside Educational Center are public high schools located in the village of Kalkaska, Michigan. Kalkaska is a mostly rural area located in northwestern lower Michigan and surrounded by rivers, lakes, forest and farmland.

At the Kalkaska High Schools, SEEDS coordinates after school and enrichment activities Monday through Thursday from 3 - 6 pm during the school year. Our programs include drama club, chess club, homework help, arts, culinary club, and hiking. . . just to name a few.  We also offer special events and other programs that will fall outside of this time frame.  We strive to be an outside-the-box program with opportunities for students to play sports, get academic help, go on field trips, and have hands-on experiences.

Take a look at our Family and Community Programming!

In addition to after school programming, SEEDS employs six local students as part of a Youth Conservation Corps team working in the surrounding community. Youth Conservation Corps empowers youth through service learning projects and development of green collar job skills. This team-based training program is modeled after the Civilian Conservation Corps of the 1930s New Deal.  Click here to learn more about the SEEDS Youth Conservation Corps.

We have great things in store for students and families during the afternoon and evening hours. Be sure to register your student as soon as possible so they can participate in these great opportunities! Registration packets can be found in the High School office and at the SEEDS classroom.

Parents, volunteers, and other community members are encouraged to check out what we’re doing! For up-to-date after school news and photos, please Like us on Facebook.
